Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 million. Shortly thereafter she resigned from the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family was sometimes dependent on the food provided by an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran remembers her fatheras who was a drunk at times too much, and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a local Catholic elementary school before beginning high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
